How long do covers last?

If the hot tub is outside and exposed to the elements, the chances are that the cover will not last as long as the spa. A good quality cover will generally last 3 to 5 years outdoors and even longer if under a gazebo.

There are some ways you can extend the life of your cover:

If it’s a CastCore® Cover, the salesman probably climbed up on it to demonstrate its strength and safety. That’s fine; many owners like to climb onto the cover to shovel off snow in the winter. Just take care not to tear the vinyl.

Spa Cover Savers on your cover lifter will help prevent damage to the center hinge of your cover. Ask your dealer for information if you don’t have these. They’re inexpensive and well worth the price.

Give your cover monthly cleaning and care following the directions in your owners manual (or look up the FAQ on cover cleaning).

Leave the cover off for at least 20 minutes after shocking with Boost™ or Refresh™ treatment. The reason is that gas from the oxidizer may cause discoloration or degradation of the vinyl underside of the cover if you leave the cover down, and such damage is not covered by warranty. Note: Your cover will not be damaged by normal levels of daily sanitizer.
