Is it okay to use Hydrogen Peroxide in my Arctic or Coyote spa?

We do not recommend hydrogen peroxide for use in our spas for a number of reasons.

  1. We have have not researched its use in our product, so we do not know what its effect would be on the plastics and other materials we use.
  2. Commercial-grade peroxide strong enough to be effective in hot tubs ranges from 25% to 35% concentration. Extremely corrosive, it can be dangerous to store, transport, and handle.
  3. Although it does a fair job of controlling bacteria at 30-40 PPM, it must be monitored very closely, because at excessive levels it can burn lung and eye tissue.
  4. It is an oxidizer rather than a sanitizer
  5. It does not control algae, and the water must be carefully watched for algae bloom, which must then be controlled with a chlorine shock or an algecide.
  6. H2O2 may not work well in water with high mineral content, especially iron. This includes many rural well systems.
  7. It can prove to be more expensive to use than other systems.

For best results, we recommend the use of Arctic Pure water care products, which have been formulated and tested for use in our hot tubs.
