We've heard of that on various internet forums. Some people suggest using a good dishwasher detergent and a rinse cycle; others use Arctic Pure Filter Renew to soak the filter, then throw it in the dishwashwer for a rinse. 

Either way, do NOT run your filters through a dry cycle. The high temperatures will distort or melt some parts of your filter.
