Are there ways to help keep my water cleaner?

Print PDF
Detergent residues and dissolved solids from bathing suits and chemicals will gradually accumulate in your spa's water. Normally, in about three to four months the water will become difficult to balance and should be replaced. Showering without using soap prior to entering the spa or using only the rinse cycle when laundering your bathing suit will help to reduce detergent residue in the spa water.
IMPORTANT: remember to change your water every three to four months.

Can I change the duration of the filtration cycle?

Print PDF
The system will automatically perform four filtration cycles per day, 6 hours apart.
During a cycle, the following sequence is executed:
  • Pump 2 and blower start at high speed for 1 minute
  • Pump 1 then starts and runs at low speed for the preset number of hours;
  • Ozone output is turned on (optional)
To set the duration of the filtration cycles (the amount of time Pump 1 will be on), follow tis procedure:
Press of the Filter Cycle key. The display will show Fd XX where XX represents the number of hours Pump 1 will be operating at low speed. Use the Up and Down arrow keys to change the number of hours.
  • 00=no filtration
  • 01=1 hour/cycle
  • 02=2 hour/cycle
Press the filter cycle key again to display the number of cycles (FF) in a 24 hour period. You can select from 1 cycle to 4 cycles per day. The Filter Cycle triangular icon will appear on the display when a filter cycle is on.

Can I lock all the keys on the panel?

There are 2 keypad lock modes: the full lock, or the partial lock. The full lock, as the name implies, locks ALL keypad functions. The partial lock locks only the programming functions; the Pump, Blower, and Light keys remain useable.
To lock, press on the Pump 1 key for 5 seconds. At that point, "LocP" will be displayed. If the key is released at this time, keypad will be in partial lock. however, if the lock key is kept pressed for another 5 seconds, "LocF" will appear and the keypad will be fully locked.
Note that a power-up unlocks the keypad.

Can I clean my filter cartridge in a dishwasher?

Print PDF

We've heard of that on various internet forums. Some people suggest using a good dishwasher detergent and a rinse cycle; others use Arctic Pure Filter Renew to soak the filter, then throw it in the dishwashwer for a rinse.

Either way, do NOT run your filters through a dry cycle. The high temperatures will distort or melt some parts of your filter.

Tired of washing filters? The Arctic Micropure disposable filter cleans better with less work and mess.

Can I put my hot tub on my deck? Could I sink it in my deck?

Print PDF
Placing a spa on a deck is very possible assuming it can safely hold it's weight. Ask your salesperson for the dry weight of the tub, dimensions and water capacity (either in US or imperial gallons). An Arctic Kodiak model weighs approx. 1200 lbs dry, it holds 418 imperial gallons (10 lbs/gal.) giving us 4180lbs. This adds up to 5380 lbs. The Kodiak is an 8'x 8' spa which translates into 64 sq. ft. Your deck needs to be able to support approximately 85 lbs/sq. ft. Make sure to consult with a licensed carpenter if you're going to tackle this job on your own.

Incorporating a hot tub into a deck is common. A couple of things to take into account are making sure there is access to the equipment and remember an Arctic has access doors on each side of the spa. Cut a hole roughly 18" wider all the way around the tub. Then use pull out type panels, that match the decking, to fill in these areas. Also, remember that you may not always be in this home and will either have to leave the spa behind or cover the hole. It is much safer to "countersink" the tub rather than have the decking come right up to the lip. The reason, it's much easier to enter and exit a spa while sitting on the lip and swinging your legs over than to step down into the water. Water will distort the distance needed to go to reach the first step and spas are slippery! So have a safety bar to enter and leave the tub or sit down on the deck and swivel.
